WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOM COMMERCIAL FURNITURE, HOW CUSTOM IS CUSTOM?

WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOM COMMERCIAL FURNITURE, HOW CUSTOM IS CUSTOM?

As a custom commercial furniture manufacturer, we’re often asked by potential clients “just how custom IS custom?” This is because many of our customers started out thinking that “custom” meant they could get it in ash brown instead of walnut brown.

But custom is so much more than colors. Now don’t get me wrong – if you love something in our catalog and want it in bright yellow instead of dark brown, we’ll aim to please. If an ice cream shop named “Banana Splits” wants yellow furniture with white patches accented by red dots (whipped cream and cherries, of course!), hey, no problem at all.

But custom furniture can go waaaay beyond changing the color or otherwise altering the appearance of your pieces. In fact, it can get truly creative and unique.

Case in point: Virgin Atlantic Airlines came to us with a concept. They wanted something futuristic for their new lounge at JFK airport. But not just futuristic – it had to also be practical, comfortable, and memorable. It had to speak to Virgin’s customers, and convey the contemporary and somewhat eclectic (yet classy) demeanor the company was known for (after all, this is a company founded by Sir Richard Branson.)

So, what did we do? Working with Virgin’s designers, the concept of the ball sofa was born.

What is a ball sofa? It’s a sofa that… well… I think a picture is worth a thousand words:

THAT’S a custom piece, folks. Born of inspired imagination, and made by skilled craftspeople.

Now, we’re not saying we can make a sofa, booth, or table out of anything, mind you (the ice cream shop’s idea of a popsicle stick table probably isn’t going to see the light of day), but if you’ve got something in mind, it’s a good bet it can be made. All it takes is a little imagination, and a custom furniture manufacturer willing to see your vision to fruition.
